When You Feel Like Nobody Loves You, Not Even God

Nobody-loves-meI have talked to many youth who feel that nobody loves them.  I am especially reminded of a 15 year old boy I met in a maximum security youth detention center.  I had brought in a team of youth from Calvary Temple in Sterling VA. We performed skits about heaven and hell.  We were talking about God’s love and forgiveness and how Jesus can make our hearts new.  We shared that there is nothing that we could do to keep God from loving us.

This young man approached me after the skits and said that, perhaps others could be forgiven, but he had done things so horrible that even God couldn’t love him.  He shared that he was responsible for the murder of his parents and sister and he lived in terrible guilt every day.  We talked about the great power of the gospel to heal and forgive, even murder!  We talked about the fact that you cannot earn salvation and that all of us are guilty and lost without Jesus.  The good news is that Jesus came and was made sin for our sin that we might be the righteousness of God (2 Cor.5:21).  He said that he didn’t feel he could ever be forgiven.  I encouraged him that we don’t live based on our feelings and that God loved him and died for him and that he can be forgiven if he would make Jesus the Lord of His life!

In a recent teaching Pastor Star R. Scott said:

“Our sin has not been covered over.  It has been absolutely annihilated.  There is no record of sin against us”

There is a war for your mind between Satan and God!  Your mind is a battle ground that is under attack.  You may not have committed murder, but Satan will tell you that you are worthless and that nobody could love you.  Satan knows that if he can get you to think that you are not loved he can capture your mind.  God knows that if you think the thoughts of the Bible your life will be filled with peace and joy and you will be useful in the kingdom of God!  How we fight this battle for our mind will determine if we will spend eternity in heaven or hell!

In Youth meeting today we were reviewing the following verse:

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 English Standard Version (ESV)

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

Everyday we are bombarded with thoughts.  Some thoughts are good, some evil, and some are just about how to best get our locker open.  Did you know that you can change the way that you live by changing the way that you think!

The Bible says that this life is a war.  We don’t use natural weapons, like guns and knifes, to fight in this war.  This war takes place in our minds.  That is why this verse talks about taking every thought captive and destroying arguments and opinions that are not of God. The weapons of Satan are referred to as fiery darts (Eph.6:16).  They come to us as thoughts.  He tries to get you to believe that you can’t be loved or forgiven.  Satan wants you to believe that God wants to make your life miserable and take away all your fun.  God said that if we would follow him would experience fullness of joy and pleasure evermore (Ps.16:11).  If we will choose to follow Him with all of our hearts He said that He would never leave us or forsake us (Heb.13:5) and that He is a Friend that will stick closer than a brother (Pr.18:24).

The only way to fight the lies of the devil is to compare every thought with the Bible. We cannot trust our feelings.  We cannot trust the advertisements of this life.  When we feel that we are not loved read Romans 5:8, “God demonstrates His own love toward us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”!  He knew how ugly we would be and He died for us anyway.  Did you know that if you have been born again that you are forgiven of every sin that you ever committed and ever will commit!  Jesus knows you so well that He even knows how many hairs are on your head! (Matt.10:30).

GOD LOVES YOU more than thousands of newly created galaxies!

The Bible says let God’s Word be true and anything else a lie, including our feelings.  The 15 year old boy is now a grown man serving time in prison.  I hope that he has chosen to believe the Bible and not his feelings and make Jesus the Lord of his life.  What will you do?
